Haymarket Station

  • HaymarketStationGallery

Project Description

Econicboards were specified to sheath the steel structure and provide a weather and fire resistance barrier behind the new granite facade.

The vision for Haymarket station extension is to provide a modern station facility which will celebrate the experience of modern rail travel.

The station becomes a transport interchange hub providing enhanced connections with the bus and tram network. The additional station capacity and facilities will address increasing passenger numbers travelling to and from Haymarket, now and in the future.

The redevelopment of the station at Haymarket is part of the Scottish Government’s strategic Edinburgh-Glasgow Improvement Programme .This aims to improve all aspects of the rail service between Scotland’s two largest cities.  The station design also had to account for large crowds attending events at Murrayfield stadium.
